FAMILY FARMING
|
|
John L. Hundley grew up farming with his father before he started Hundley Farms with his wife, Patricia (Patsy) Hundley, in 1969. They started with $25,000 worth of equipment, a $25,000 loan that was co-signed by his father, and 400 acres of land. The first crops harvested included sweet corn and radishes. Hundley farms has grown exponentially since then. Currently, they farm approximately 16,000 acres of land that includes a majority of sweet corn and sugar cane. They continue to diversify their growth by producing field corn, radishes, celery, green beans, and cattle. Along with the diversification and growth of the farm, the Hundley family has continued to grow and evolve into a family owned, run and operated business. As a seasoned farmer who has also achieved many awards and accolades in the industry of agriculture, Mr. John L. Hundley continues to lead his team with an innovative, progressive approach to produce healthy, quality, products. Hundley Farms complies with South Florida Water Management District's best management practices and utilizes many conservation techniques to ensure that their farm will be sustainable for future generations. John wants to ensure that his children and grandchildren have the opportunity to farm for many years to come
