John L. Hundley grew up farming with his father before he started Hundley Farms with his wife Patricia, known as Patsy, in 1969. They began with $25,000 worth of equipment, a $25,000 loan co-signed by his father, and 400 acres of land. The first crops harvested were sweet corn and radishes.
Hundley Farms has grown a great deal since then. Today the family farms approximately 16,000 acres, a majority of it sweet corn and sugar cane, and continues to diversify with broccoli, cabbage, green beans, rice, and cattle. Along with the growth of the farm, the Hundley family has grown into a business that is family owned, family run, and family operated.
A seasoned farmer with many awards and accolades in agriculture, John L. Hundley still leads his team with an innovative, progressive approach to producing healthy, quality products, so his children and grandchildren have the opportunity to farm for many years to come.
